Clements University Hospital

TDIndustries (TD) played a prominent role as a design/assist specialty contractor to mitigate the complexities that accompanied a project of this magnitude. TD was responsible for the total mechanical work for HVAC, plumbing, and Medical Gas systems. At the time, this healthcare project was the largest contract in TD’s history. Construction began in August 2010, and the facility was fully operational on December 6, 2014, wrapping up ahead of schedule and on-budget. In achieving this goal, the owner occupied the facility four months ahead of planned projection, allowing the new hospital’s first baby to be born on the morning of December 6. Key factors in overcoming the project’s challenges involved construction innovations, prefabrication by TD’s manufacturing shop and Lean processes. For the work on the Clements University Hospital construction, TD won a TEXO Distinguished Building Award and the ABC National Excellence in Construction First Place Eagle Award with Productivity Award distinction.
