TD provided HVAC and plumbing services for the 240,000-square-foot, 8-story Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute facility. The project included 147 patient beds, a cardiology care unit, six cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs, six operating rooms, a satellite pharmacy, an administrative unit and conference facility, and a supporting satellite dietary housekeeping and material management services area.  In addition, TD worked on a two-level underground parking garage with 177 parking spaces for the project.

There was a large change in scope during the project. The owner wanted to add two additional levels to the hospital after two-thirds of the structure had been poured.  As a result of these changes, intense coordination with the entire design team and general contractor was needed. The first floor mechanical room piping and ductwork that was already in fabrication were required to be placed on hold while the engineer and TD worked hand-in-hand to reroute the existing piping so that additional equipment and piping could be added. TD also worked with the engineer to locate and set piping sleeves for a floor that had yet to be issued for coordination in order to eliminate possible future problems for the owner. Because of the close collaboration, this project was completed on-time with minimal rework, resulting in savings to the owner.
