TDIndustries Wins Three National Excellence in Construction® Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors

Dallas, Texas—TDIndustries (TD) is proud to announce that three of its construction projects have earned national recognition from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) by winning the Eagle and a Pyramid Award in the Specialty Contractor: Mechanical division and a Pyramid Award in the Mechanical: Commercial - $2 to $10 million division. TDPartners (employees of TD accepted the awards on March 2, 2016 on behalf of the company during ABC’s 26th annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards celebration in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The three winning projects were the UT Southwestern William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas, TX; the ExxonMobil Campus in Spring, TX and the Sundance Square Plaza renovation in Fort Worth, TX.

TDIndustries’ top winner was the Clements University Hospital, earning not only an EIC Eagle but also the Productivity Award for the Specialty Contractor: Mechanical division. The additional acknowledgement was based on the quality of work and innovative methods utilized throughout the project. TD performed the total mechanical scope of work for the new 1.3 million sf hospital with 12-floors of medical suites and 460 patient beds. Prefabrication, BIM and Lean processes were instrumental in completing the project two months ahead of the owner’s desired occupancy date.

Another winner in the Specialty Contractor: Mechanical division was the ExxonMobil Campus Project, earning the Pyramid award. When TD was awarded the mechanical and plumbing contract for the 385-acre ExxonMobil Campus Project in February 2012, it was the largest privately funded commercial construction project in the nation. TD performed construction on five of the 14 office buildings. Each building contained 250,000 sf within six stories, including five mechanical penthouses on the roof and two subterranean floors. TD is proud to complete the $44 million project with an excellent safety record of zero lost time incidents.

Winning a Pyramid award in the Mechanical: Commercial - $2 to $10 million category was TD’s work on the renovation of downtown Fort Worth’s Sundance Square Plaza. Sundance Square is a three-square-block area of downtown which is a hub for tourism, entertainment and dining. In addition to the 55,000 sf outdoor plaza, TD installed new building core and shell mechanical and plumbing for six buildings in Sundance Square. This included nearly 300,000 sf of Class A office space and two historical buildings. Despite multiple buildings in the contract, each with their own aesthetic and technical needs, TD delivered the scope of the contract on time and within budget.

The EIC Awards program is the industry’s leading competition, and projects compete across the nation. Projects were considered for EIC Eagle and Pyramid awards based on their safety record, attractiveness, innovation, completion time, cost, quality craftsmanship, teamwork and ability to overcome obstacles during the construction process. A panel of experts from the A/E/C industry served as the competition’s judges. This year’s panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, Construction Users Roundtable and the National Association of Women in Construction, as well as representatives from higher education, among others.
