TDIndustries Inspires Women in Construction at Houston Recruiting Event

HOUSTON - (February 28, 2022) – In partnership with Construction Career Collaborative (C3) and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), TDIndustries is proud to inspire and recruit the next generation of women in construction at this year’s #SHEbuildsHouston recruiting event on Thursday, March 3, in Houston.

The #SHEbuildsHouston recruiting event introduces young women to the craft trades through discussions with experienced tradeswomen and hands-on training with tools and heavy equipment. The event will also educate young women on additional opportunities in the construction industry such as estimating, project management, visual design, modular and leadership.

TD’s Executive Vice President Nikki Morgan and TD Assistant Project Manager Iris Flores will be speaking as part of leadership roundtable panel discussions where young women can ask questions about the future of the industry. TD Assistant Project Manager Amanda Ackerman, TD Sheet Metal Apprentice Samantha Smith and TD Safety Manager Emily Robinson will also be speaking. The event will be an excellent opportunity to talk with TD women in construction before the kickoff of Women in Construction Week March 6-12, 2022.

"It is a privilege to lead and inspire the next generation of women who are looking to start a career in construction," said TD Executive Vice President, Nikki Morgan. "We hope to see many eager faces at this recruiting event and look forward to sharing our insights from TD’s perspective."

TD’s Iris Flores was recently recognized as the 2021 Young Professional for the Greater Houston Area Associated Builders and Contractors organization. An inspiration to many young women in the construction industry, Flores would like to recognize her late father who worked at TD for more than 18 years and was the reason she pursued a career in construction. Flores is also a member of the Houston National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Board of Directors.

This dynamic recruiting event will take place on Thursday, March 3, at the Alief Center for Advanced Careers and will include 1,250 young women from Alief ISD and Spring Branch ISD, grade levels 6-12. For more information, visit C3.org/SheBuildsHouston.HTML.
