TD, as part of a mechanical JV team, provided mechanical/plumbing design/build, design/assist services for this 2 million-square-foot stadium. It has 71,000 seats, 190 suites and a 14.5-acre retractable roof.
TD provided extensive value analysis and target value design, including budgeting the various system options selected and providing additional input as to serviceability, constructability and life expectancy of the respective systems. The project team was able to offer cost savings through material changes, redesign of the ductwork, relocation of the twelve (12) 100,000-cubic-feet-per-minute air handling units (AHU) and utilization of UV technology to change out the kitchen grease duct to an environmental duct.
TD also faced a unique challenge in accessing the remote cooling tower. A 75-foot tunnel was bored under an extremely active thoroughfare, accommodating the width of two 24-inch pipes to the remote cooling tower. Approximately 3 million pounds of sheet metal and 330,000 linear feet of piping were installed.
