TDIndustries Reflects on Black History Month through Partner Highlights

As the month of February concludes, it is important we continue to recognize and celebrate the meaning of Black History Month by reflecting on the many accolades and contributions African Americans have and continue to make on the fabric of our society.

This annual celebration of history and culture is vital to acknowledge, and one of several diversity heritage months TDIndustries (TD) promotes throughout the year with our Partners. These months play a key role in educating our organization on the complexities and richness of various cultural identities while also shedding light on the stories and histories that are at the heart of each culture.

TD’s Core Value to Celebrate the Power of Individual Differences supports the importance of cultural heritage months, like Black History Month, where all Partner contributions are continuously valued. Here are a few featured testimonials from our African American Partners who shared their stories of culture, upbringing, and what Black History Month means to them.

Jack BuckleyJack Buckley, Service Manager, Fort Worth

Buckley has been with TD for three years, celebrating his anniversary last December. He’s proud of his accomplishments at TD and how far he has grown in his career.

Q: In your words, what does Celebrate the Power of Individual Differences mean to you?

A: "To me, what I think of is the idea that no matter your ethnicity, your financial status, your gender, your religion – at the end of the day, we value that. It's all a big part of how we make this conglomerate of TD, and it's a group and team effort. There are no barriers here, like those encountered in our country by different genders and races in decades past. At the end of the day, we still all bleed red and breathe the same oxygen. No one is better than anyone else and it's all useful in our collection of Partners at TD."

Ronell PRonell Peters, Senior Vice President, Special Projects, Houston

Peters is a 32-year Partner who is proud of his upbringing, his culture, and where his career has taken him.

Q: What do you feel that you bring to TD, that is a reflection of your culture?

A: "I bring my authentic self to TD in hopes that those whose path I have crossed might understand that the differences of our cultures gives us the opportunity to educate and expand our connection to one another.  Let me be me and let you be you, so that we can grow together in appreciation of what each of us brings to the table."

Mark Joseph, Director of Inclusion, Dallas Home Office

Mark has been with TD for over two years, where she has held two positions. In her previous role of Talent Acquisition Program Manager, she oversaw TD’s recruiting outreach programs focused on building quality talent pipelines to support corporate objectives and recruiting initiatives - concentrating specifically on inclusion and diversity of military/veterans & spouses, people of color, women in trades and construction, college/university and high schools.

Q:  What does it mean to you that TD has a diverse work environment that values all Partner contributions and celebrates diversity heritage months such as this?

A: "Having an inclusive and diverse work environment at TD speaks volumes! The conversation around the lack of inclusiveness and diversity in the construction industry is not new. An inclusive work environment means equal opportunities for everyone without regard to ethnic background, gender, age, sexual preference or disability. It also means increased collaboration, more cohesiveness, increased production, enhanced brand and reputation, increased business and profits, with a positive impact on TD's bottom-line."

"I'm excited that TD has specific corporate goals around inclusion and diversity for increasing the number of Women, People of Color and Veterans."
