Celebrating World Plumbing Day in Construction, Service & Maintenance

How many plumbing amenities have you experienced so far today?

From taking a shower and conveniently drinking a glass of cold water, to wearing clothes fresh from the laundry and flushing the toilet: Everyday tasks would be impossible without trained plumbers and innovative advancements in plumbing.

March 11 is World Plumbing Day

As the junction between positive health, environmental sustainability and economic prosperity, plumbing is an essential part of human history and its future.

Celebrating World Plumbing Day is an opportunity to express gratitude for those who use their skills to serve the planet and communities by working on efficient plumbing systems. It's a time to reflect on the health-related outcomes and improved living standards nurtured by plumbing advancements that often get taken for granted.

Here are a few groups we'd like to honor for World Plumbing Day 2019

Licensed Plumbers and Apprentices

Today and everyday, TD honors the licensed plumbers and apprentices who assist in conserving natural resources. They play pivotal roles in the high-functioning systems we are all very familiar with, especially in commercial and industrial systems. From installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, boilers, and pumps, to providing assessments and recommending alternatives  the responsibilities of licensed plumbers and apprentices are vast and influential.

How could we expect pipes to carry water, sewage, gas and other liquids to various facilities without them?

Facilities Managers

It's easy to forget how fortunate we are to be able to take advantage of plumbing innovations, especially with the ability to rely on a quality facility manager. By making safety a top priority and keeping up with new regulations and codes, facility managers make an undeniable impact in the maintenance and life cycle of plumbing systems we experience everyday. Facility managers are key players in efficient plumbing systems, and World Plumbing Day wouldn't be complete without appreciating their efforts.

World Plumbing Day also allows facility managers and occupants to reflect on their plumbing maintenance practices (professionally and personally). It reminds us to take pride in performing necessary maintenance tasks. Neglecting your plumbing system can start an unwanted chain reaction of problems, but scheduling maintenance can lower risk and give you the peace of mind that everything is running smoothly.

Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry

Efficient plumbing systems require teamwork, and we appreciate everyone who contributes to the collaborative environments. That being said, World Plumbing Day is an opportunity to recognize colleagues from the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, as well as various TDPartners across all geographies and business units.

From dispatchers who deliver first-rate service while managing customers' plumbing requests, to engineers who share their Lean expertise and knowledge of large-scale plumbing systems – TD values each individual's contribution to the whole.

To everyone who contributes to plumbing systems in construction, service, and maintenance: Thank you for enhancing the quality of, and access to, safe water and hygienic public health. Happy World Plumbing Day!
