Dallas, Texas – TDIndustries (TD) recently opened its newly-built Houston office, bringing a year-long construction process to a close. The office sits on a 10-acre property on Derrington Road northwest of downtown Houston.
The campus includes a two-story office building and warehouse totaling 51,000 sf, as well as a detached assembly shop with an additional 6,000 sf. TD worked with general contractor Benchmark Houston Builders on the project. Benchmark is an industry partner that has been working with TD since 1995, building almost exclusively design-build projects.
“We spent 22 years in our old space growing from 12,000 to 36,000 sf – each expansion forcing the space to meet our needs. It had become very unproductive place for our teams to function,” says Graham Moore, President of TD’s Houston operations. “We are so excited to have a building designed specifically for our needs that makes us more efficient. The new building provides training facilities for our field and office TDPartners (TD employee-owners) and allows for much greater collaboration between the field and office, which will be a direct benefit to our customers.”
Benchmark and TD worked with mArchitects to create a contemporary and efficient working environment. The design reflects TD’s collaborative culture, with open work areas, an Oak Wall, and no private offices. The site’s location requires the building to be largely self-sufficient, and the design incorporates landscaping and onsite water collection, as well as a nature preserve with a walking trail and water features.
The new facility has already impacted its new tenants. “Our TDPartners walk around all day with a smile on their face,” says Moore. “It appears to me that they get to work earlier and show up far more motivated.”
