TDIndustries Supports Autism Awareness in Dallas CASA’s Parade of Playhouses

TDIndustries is partnering with KDC and Kimley-Horn to support Dallas CASA’s 24th Parade of Playhouses, which provides legal funding for abused and neglected children living in protective care.

Entries are on display at NorthPark Center in Dallas until July 28. Funds raised from the voting and raffle of these 17 playhouses allow Dallas CASA to support more volunteer advocates and find safe homes for children. In 2018, Dallas CASA’s 1,420 sworn advocates served 3,332 children. Amidst an overwhelmed child welfare system, a CASA volunteer is often the only constant and consistent adult by a child’s side during confusing legal proceedings.

The TD/KDC/Kimley-Horn team went with the theme of Autism Awareness, where the puzzle pieces resemble the Autism Awareness logo. The walls are named Memory Master, Texas Pin-spiration, Water Wall, and Plinko Power. All the designs cater to children on the autism spectrum, but they are still appealing to all children.

“These 17 adorable houses represent what our volunteers’ dreams for the children they serve – safety, permanency, warmth, and a place to call their forever home,” said Kathleen LaValle, president and CEO of Dallas CASA.

Parade of Playhouses has been a signature community and fundraising event for Dallas CASA since 1996. This year’s collection also includes a tiny food truck and a lunar landing module.

Serving the local community and providing resources for disadvantaged youth are important aspects of TD’s core values.

Project Manager Paul Jenke led TD’s effort on this project.

“The CDC says almost 1 in 60 children will be born with autism,” shares Jenke. “We wanted to make sure all children have outlets like these playhouses to encourage their creativity – however they express it.”

Votes are collected through text messages, onsite at NorthPark Center, or online at dallascasa.org.
