Why I Became An Engineer - Brandon's Story

Engineering is a technical, creative profession, and the contributions of engineers around the world are celebrated annually during National Engineers Week. The road to becoming a Professional Engineer—complete with the letters “P.E.” appended to your name—is rigorous. The bachelor’s degree path has demanding coursework, and there are multiple tests (the first is the Engineer-in-Training) after graduation to pass. Dedication, a love for one’s work, and sheer sweat equity are what put engineers among the most venerable professions.

TDIndustries is proud of our up and coming crop of young engineers who have already been on that journey. They are inspirations to our future generations who might be considering STEM careers.

Brandon, an EIT (Engineer-in-Training) and Mechanical Designer, shares what inspired him to become an engineer:

“I grew up in a family of construction workers and from a young age, I was able to learn a lot about how things were made. Some of my fondest memories are working with my dad and grandpa building things like additions to our house, storage sheds, tables, trailers, etc. In my family when someone had an issue we would get together and fix it ourselves. This is where I gained a love for problem-solving and planning out the best solution. I had great role models growing up who worked their tails off to give me an opportunity to go to college, which led to me getting a job here on the engineering team at TDIndustries.”

Thank you to Brandon for sharing his story. Stay tuned to our blog as we share the stories of our young engineers all week.
